About Us

The third largest privately-owned electric company in Luzon was known as Angeles Light ad Power Plant when it formally started operations on July 10, 1923. In 1959, it was incorporated and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as Angeles Electric Corporation (AEC).

The company was granted its first franchise to construct, maintain and operate an electric, heat and power system in Angeles City under R.A. 2341 on June 20, 1959.

AEC’s franchise area is Angeles City in the province of Pampanga. It has a total land area of 62.17 square kilometers and is composed of thirty-three (33) barangays with a total population of 462,928 based on the 2020 Census of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Angeles Electric Corporation holds the distinction of being the first electric utility company to achieve one hundred percent (100%) electrification of its franchise area, way back in 1969. The conversion of the distribution voltage from 2,400 V to 13,800 V enabled the company to extend its power lines to the remotest barangay. In 1996, AEC received national recognition as “Outstanding Countryside Investor (Large-Scale Category) of the Year” from the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (PCCII) for its contribution to hasten the economic recovery of Angeles City.

While the 80’s may be considered as banner years when AEC experienced unprecedented growth with the increase in coverage area and the computerization of its billing system, the 90’s will be remembered as the turbulent decade of the power crisis, the Mt. Pinatubo eruption and labor unrest. It was during this period when AEC made determined efforts to enhance customer service and its information retrieval system. The year 2004 saw the computerization of its payment system.

A Board of Directors exercises corporate powers and conducts business through the formulation and implementation of corporate policies. Management is presently headed by its President, Maria Rita Josefina V. Chua, who took over the helm from Engr. Geromin T. Nepomuceno (GTN) in December 2019. GTN succeeded Engr. Peter G. Nepomuceno (PGN), who retired in July 2001 after leading the corporation for forty-three (43) years. It was during PGN’s term that the family enterprise was transformed into the industry pacesetter that it is now.

Angeles Electric Corporation has been consistently listed as one of the top 1000 corporations in the Philippines. With the continuous transition into a deregulated environment and open access, AEC’s competitive edge is anchored on a two-pronged thrust: the enhancement of service delivery to its almost one hundred thirty-two thousand customer accounts as of December 2022, and the strengthening of its operational and financial viability.
